01. Introduction

This report is prepared by MIC-Sri Lanka as per the request of Muslim Councils of Sri Lanka.The report contains five chapters including the introduction. The second chapter provides general background and information about the 2011 floods from January to February and its impacts. The third chapter provides information about the flood impact in Ttrincomalee district in ....sectors .The fourth chapter gives detailed information about the background of Mutur flooding situation and its detailed impacts on the sectors of shelter, livestock, water, sanitation and livelihood. The fifth chapter ends with the conclusion of the report.

The primary information for the report is collected from direct sample surveys conducted by MIC- Sri Lanka and from the Divisional secretariat of Mutur. Further MIC referred the documents of UNDP, DMC,MajlisusShoora, and JammiathulUlamaof Mutur.Personal interviews with social activists and concerned people also were the tools adopted by MIC in documenting this report.

MIC believes this report will be useful for humanitarian agencies, social activists, researchers, media personnel and research students for their intended purposes. MIC values and welcomes any comments regarding this report from the readers.
